Come and discover the new Pont Aven museum
The Musée de Pont-Aven was founded on 29 June 1985. Its aim is to raise awareness of the artistic life of Pont-Aven from the 1860s and the establishment of the first colony of American artists, right up to Breton painting in the mid-twentieth century, and to develop a body of research on the subject.

A few key dates:
1960 - Creation of the «Association of the Friends of Gauguin», chaired by Maurice Malingue. Its ambition was to organise an annual exhibition at the Pont-Aven Town Hall in order to promote the spirit of the Pont-Aven school.
1971 - «La Société de Peinture de Pont-Aven», chaired by Bertrand Quéinec, replaces the previous association. It was renamed «Association des Amis du Musée de Pont-Aven».
29 June 1985 - Official opening of the first Pont-Aven Museum.
1st June 2012 - Transfer of the Musée de Pont-Aven to Concarneau Cornouaille Agglomération. The municipal museum becomes a community museum.
July 2013 - Work starts on the new museum.
26 March 2016 - The new Pont-Aven Museum reopens to the public.
